This is it.

The Phillies’ 2012 season officially begins today, with a 1:35 p.m. away match-up against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Perfect excuse to play hooky from work or to take a long lunch — we won’t tell. We’ll even refer you to our previous suggestions of top picks for where to watch.

And heads up: the Phillies Ralley Trolley will be out and about in Center City at lunchtime today getting fans fired up.

Fingers crossed that we’ll have cause to celebrate tonight. There are plenty of opportunities to do so; keep an eye out for our Tonight Picks, going up at 4 p.m. sharp later today.

Regardless of today’s outcome, we can’t wait for the team’s official home opener on Monday, April 9, when Citizens Bank Park will open its doors for the first game of the new season at 1:50 p.m. against the Marlins.
