Legendary Jazz Club Ortlieb’s Lounge Reopens Under New Management Tomorrow, April 17

Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 17, Avram Hornik and his Four Corners Management (of Drinkers, Lucy’s Hat Shop, Noche and most recently Union Transfer fame) will open their newest location, entertainment venue Ortlieb’s Lounge.
You remember Ortlieb’s Jazzhaus as a musical staple of Northern Liberties, a cornerstone to the Philadelphia music scene. It closed in April 2010, a devastating loss to local music.
This new incarnation of Ortlieb’s is a revitalization: the team has maintained some of the original fixtures, keeping the spirit of the joint intact, while infusing new life into the space.
Ortlieb’s Lounge will offer live entertainment six nights a week. Tuesday nights are the “Jazz Jam Session”, hosted by longtime Ortlieb’s owner and booker, Pete Souders.
Ortlieb’s will also feature live music on Wednesdays with the “Open Mic Soul Jam” and on Thursdays with the Ortlieb’s house band, “Sittin’ Back” with Slo ‘n Shakey. Friday and Saturday nights will offer a mix of Rock, Funk and Soul spun by notable Philly DJs.
The week will round out Sunday night with “No Libs No Laughs”, an open mic comedy event hosted by Rittenhouse Comedy.
There’s a bar area plus full service dining room. The spot will serve Tex Mex pub grub until 11 p.m. (think Catfish BLT, Peel & Eat Shrimp and the Ortlieb’s Taco).
On tap there will be 10 rotating local and national craft drafts, a wide selection of bottled beer, signature cocktails and a fully stocked bar.
A warm welcome to an old staple.
