World Dance Day Returns To The Piazza At Schmidts This Sunday, April 29

This Sunday, April 29 get in on the action as dance enthusiasts around the globe celebrate the annual World Dance Day.
This will be Philadelphia’s third year participating in World Dance Day, which was founded by UNESCO in 1982 to recognize the joy of movement.
This year’s event, organized by 954 Dance Movement Collective, will transform the Piazza in Northern Liberties into a public dance arena for professionals, amateurs, children and those of us just looking to learn a few new moves.
The event will kick off at noon with an hour of performances by area dancers and groups, and will lead into 20-minute “teach-in” classes starting at 1 p.m. The event will round out with another round of performances from 2-3 p.m.
There will be dancers from a wide range of styles, including, Hula, Hip Hop and contemporary, and they’re excited to shake off those winter cobwebs.
So get out there and get your groove on, or at least your best twist.
