Don’t forget: this weekend brings the 2012 Roots Picnic, bigger and better than ever before with two days this year of musical madness.
The annual event hit’s Penn’s Landing June 2-3 with, as always, a mix of big names, underground sensations and local up-and-comers.
Philly 360 has all of the latest festival details and the scoop on who’s hitting the stage on each day. Highlights include hip-hop legends De La Soul (performing with The Roots) and Rakim (performing his album Paid In Full… in full), homegrown talents Chill Moody, OCD and DJ/super-producer Diplo and other acclaimed acts like Wale, Kid Cudi, St. Vincent, James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem and many more.
And of course The Roots will be rocking Festival Pier all weekend performing their own material as well as serving as the backing band during De La Soul’s set, something they’re very familiar with as the official house band on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.
One-day and two-day passes are still available, but move quickly as they likely won’t be for long. Also, visit Philly 360 for a special discount promo code.
