Breaking: University City District To Add Mini-Golf To The Porch At 30th Street Station For The Month Of July; Plus The Park To Transform Into An Open-Air Beer Garden With Live Music And Food, July 12-14

Starting July 1, you'll be able to play a free round of mini golf every day of the week at one of Philadelphia's newest public spaces. (Photo courtesy University City District)
University City District doesn’t mess around; this month alone they’re launching The Dirt Factory, an innovative and super-green new composting facility; “Heart & Soul: The University City Public Piano Project,” an interactive public art exhibition featuring eight artist-decorated pianos on sidewalks, in parks and public spaces; and have hosted farmers markets, fitness classes and live concerts at the Porch at 30th Street Station.
The Porch, which debuted last November, is an exciting public space adjacent to the second busiest train station in the country, with colorful tables and seating, plantings and fun programming. It’s already been recognized by Dwell Magazine as one of “The Now 99″ in design.
And not only did University City District just receive a grant from ArtPlace, a new national collaboration to accelerate creative placemaking across the U.S., in support of redesigning and creating a permanent art installation at the Porch at 30th Street Station.
They’re also already taking a huge step in that direction of making the Porch a lively town square for Philadelphia by launching FREE mini golf and an open-air beer garden in July.
From July 1-31, the Porch will play host to a mini golf course open from 10 a.m.-8 p.m., seven days a week. And it’s totally free!
Balls and clubs will be provided, and you can turn in your filled-out score card to be entered to win a $500 gift card to Dick’s Sporting Goods.
PLUS: from July 12-14, the Porch will transform into an outdoor beer garden, with live music, craft beer and delicious eats provided by Bridgewater’s Pub at 30th Street Station. Think bratwurst, sauerkraut and Italian sausage sandwiches. It’ll be open from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 12; noon-8 p.m. on Friday, July 13; and noon-5 p.m. on Saturday, July 14.
The only thing better than mini-golf in the city is mini-golf in the city coupled with a beer garden.
We’ll have more details soon about both events, but in the meantime check out the regular schedule of events at the Porch right here.

What a terrible photoshop of Philly’s skyline. You could have done more than remove the radio tower on the copy-and-pasted building…
