Good News: The NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Is Headed Back To Philly In 2013; Wells Fargo Center To Host Second And Third Round Tourney Action

So this is still almost a year down the road, but we’re still pretty excited about it: Philadelphia will host games in next year’s NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Philadelphia will host games during the tournament’s opening weekend, which used to be the first round, but is now called the tournament’s “second round.” The Wells Fargo Center will host four second round games on Friday, March 22 and two third round games on Sunday, March 24.

We feel like the tournament should be playing games in Philly pretty much every year, but it seems like we don’t get tournament games as often as you’d think. And then, when we do get them, they’re often epic. (Ahem, 1992.) So we’re psyched that next year, six games will be played right here, including four on the first Friday of the tournament… Also known as one of the best Fridays of the entire year.

Now what would really make it great, is if we have some local representation at these games. A little home court advantage may be just what Temple needs to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. Or Drexel. Or Penn. Who knows…

Tickets go on sale to the public on October 13.
