Fireworks displays are a great summertime tradition so we’re pretty excited to report that Penn’s Landing will be hosting more fireworks shows this year than ever before.
In addition to the traditional fireworks display on the waterfront the Saturday prior to the city’s official July 4th celebration — which this year will be on Saturday, June 30 during the Taste of Philadelphia Festival during Wawa Welcome America — the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation this year will also be introducing a brand new weekly fireworks series called Friday Night Lights.
Friday Night Lights will consist of FREE fireworks displays on six consecutive Fridays, debuting Friday, July 27 and running through Friday, August 31. The fireworks shows will begin at 9:15 p.m. and be launched landside from the quay in the Penn’s Landing Marina, near the new RiverStage at Penn’s Landing.
The Friday Light Lights displays will be a chance to experience fireworks in a more intimate way, providing a perfect start to a summer evening out in the city. And you know we’re big fans of summer evenings out in the city…
Also, for even more fireworks, keep in mind that the Race Street Pier is a great spot to view not only these fireworks shows, but also the fireworks shows that take place after most RiverSharks home games on the Camden Waterfront above Campbell’s Field. You can see the full schedule for those fireworks here.

Absolutely love this idea. It really builds up Penn’s Landing and adds flavor to Philadelphia summers.
