Asian Arts Initiative Presents Paper Play, An Exhibition Featuring Large-Scale Paper Works, On View Through August 17

Combining traditional Korean paper-making techniques and modern abstract painting, the Asian Arts Initiative’s latest exhibition, Paper Play, showcases vibrant two-and three-dimensional paper works that visually express a fusion of cultures and artistic technique.
On view now through August 17, the exhibition is a tribute to the rich cultural identities of artists Jeonghan Yun and Choonhyang Yu, traversing the border between Korean and American cultures by blending diverse paper-making traditions.
To create the paper utilized in the exhibition, the artists made use of a traditional Asian paper-making technique, which produces a tough canvas that can be molded and shaped into sculptural works, onto which oil paint is then added.
Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, noon-6 p.m.
