Rock out in Rittenhouse Square during the 22nd annual “Concerts in the Park” series, sponsored by Philadelphia Weekly.
The free concert series, back in its Rittenhouse Square location after last year’s transfer to the Piazza, attracts hundreds with live music from reputable local and national bands spanning musical genres from jazz to rock, country to R&B.
It’s also a great opportunity for bringing a picnic and enjoying a summer evening in the square with friends. While the bands play in the center of the square, the lawns on the square’s sides provide an ideal location from which to enjoy the music with less of the crowd.
And the best part about these Wednesday evening concerts is that they’re completely free.
Here’s this year’s concert lineup:
• August 15: Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band with special guest TJ Kong and the Atomic Bomb
• August 22: Ground Up featuring The Lawsuits
• August 29: Strapping Fieldhands/The Spinning Leaves
So go ahead and mark your calendars now.
