Muhammad Ali To Receive The National Constitution Center’s 2012 Liberty Medal

Last week Mayor Nutter announced that Muhammad Ali, champion of freedom, will receive the National Constitution Center’s 2012 Liberty Medal. The Olympic gold medalist and boxing legend has been a fighter for civil rights and an ambassador for justice for decades, making him a fitting choice for an extra-special Liberty Medal, in this 225th anniversary year of the Constitution. Ali will receive the medal in a public ceremony on September 13. It will mark Ali’s return to the NCC; in 2003 he was the first to raise the American flag that hangs in the NCC’s Grand Hall Overlook and flew over every state capitol. Congrats to an American legend who has made his mark here in Philly. [Constitution Daily]
