So, you think you can dance?
Get set to bust a move at the Philadelphia Dance Day festival, on Saturday, July 28.
All dance enthusiasts – regardless of experience or coordination – are invited to join this event, which features a day full of free workshops designed to celebrate dance as a powerful platform for creative expression and physical activity.
You can get schooled in ballet, tango, hop-hop, swing, salsa and other popular dance genres as well as learn dance-meets-fitness mash-ups, such as Zumba, bokwa, extreme ballet, aerobic jazz and cardio bellydance.
A couple of workshops, creative dance for kids and kids ballet, help youngsters get in touch with the joy of movement.
The free workshops run in various parts of the city during the day, then at 6 p.m., everything converges at Rittenhouse Square’s Ethical Society, where for $5 you can get into the groove at a giant Zumba party and then trip the light fandango doing social dances like the Lindy and Foxtrot.
Everything take place in the air-conditioned indoors, but still, be prepared to break a sweat.
