The first edition of the 2012 40th Street Summer Series has come and gone, bu there are still three to go.

Next up in this free outdoor concert series is the Sun Ra Arkestra, performing outside on the lawn at 40th and Walnut Streets this Saturday, July 28 at 6 p.m.

The Sun Ra Arkestra actually is returning for their third Summer Series appearance, treating you to another very rare hometown performance. Founded in 1958 under the leadership of Sun Ra, the Arkestra pioneered a unique brand of afro-futurism, which explores outer space and Egyptian mythology.
