Save The Date: An Expanded 2nd Street Festival Returns To Northern Liberties Sunday, August 5 With Seven Blocks Of Great Food, Pop-Up Beer Gardens, Crafts, Shopping And Live Music On Four Stages

Northern Liberties is keeping the summer festival season going strong with the fourth annual 2nd Street Festival, Sunday, August 5, noon-10 p.m.

The 2nd Street Festival is truly larger and more packed with programming than any of its previous years.

This year the neighborhood is closing off North 2nd between Germantown avenue and Green Street for a (completely free!) supersized block party filled with seven blocks of workshops, art, food, live bands and merchandise vendors for 10 hours.

The 2nd Street Festival has once again teamed up with the Philadelphia Folk Festival to program the music. There will be four music and event stages, all programmed by the Philadelphia Folksong Society. You can check out the first wave of the musical lineup, including roots, hip-hop, indie folk and rock, reggae, world music, DJs and more, announced online.

Just like last year, but even better, the festival will offer gourmet food and beer gardens provided by the neighborhood’s most prominent restaurants, including Standard Tap, Bar Ferdinand, El Camino Real, Gunner’s Run, Cantina Dos Segundos, North Bowl and more.

Festival attendance nearly doubled last year from 8,000 to more than 16,000; this year’s event promises to surpass those numbers. Stay tuned for a more thorough guide to the festival next week.
