Celebrate Traditional And Contemporary Indian Culture At The Festival Of India At Penn’s Landing, Saturday, August 18

Get ready for a super colorful, super flavorful celebration coming to Penn’s Landing this weekend.
The Council of Indian Organizations (CIO) of Greater Philadelphia is presenting the Festival of India to commemorate India’s Independence Day on Saturday, August 18, from 1-7 p.m.
Now in its 19th year, the Festival of India, part of Penn’s Landing’s PECO Multicultural Series, reflects the many facets of the vibrant local Indian-American population and provides a range of traditional to contemporary styles of Indian art and crafts, entertainment and cuisine.
This year’s program will feature live entertainment authentic Indian food, and a variety of cultural exhibits and displays.
Some highlights include:
• Music and Dance: The cultural program offers continuous live music including classical, folk, modern as well as the exceedingly popular Bollywood song and dance.
• Arts and Crafts: An exhibition and sale of traditional Indian handicrafts, clothes, jewelry and more.
• India Pavilion: A “must see” spot, this year’s exhibit features a display of traditional Indian musical instruments.
• Indian Cuisine: A wide array of popular food items from different regions of India will be available for purchase.
Admission is FREE for this and all PECO Multicultural Series events.

I missed this festival. Its line up was awesome. Next time, I will definitely try to attend this festival.
