The Business Association of Mt. Airy celebrates the conclusion of summer and beginning of fall with “Finally Friday” on Friday, August 31.

The event has a “La Rentrée” theme, the French promotion of summer’s ending and a return to normal life after extended vacation.

Residents and visitors alike can enjoy a festive yet laid-back evening out with gallery shows at studios, live entertainment on the sidewalk and French-inspired specials at restaurants and shops.

To name just a few, Doc C Custom Clothier will be donating a percentage of sales to the Linda Creed Breast Cancer Foundation; Walk A Crooked Mile Books will offer 20% all French titles and back-to-school books; Wine Thief Bistro will offer $5 Pomegranate Martinis; Earth Bread & Brewery will offer a special French-inspired flatbread; Food For All Market will have a special gluten-free French baguette; Avenida will serve $20 pitchers of sangria and margaritas; and Little Jimmie’s (Mt. Airy’s new bakery/café) will host a “pop-up” bakery outside of Scoop Ice Cream.

Local R&B singers Singsation, Prepa-Red and Darryl Lewis will be performing in front of Food for All from 6:30-8 p.m. The Mt. Airy Art Garage will host “Quilt-A-Palooza” at 6:30 p.m. and jazz musician Kenny Sykes will perform from 7-9 p.m. at Walk A Crooked Mile Books.

This lively event connects the arts with restaurants and retail as local shops stay open late and live entertainment animates the street. Do not miss out.

And we’ll have more information soon on what to do this action-packed Labor Day Weekend.
