To kick off the fall season, the Philadelphia Art Alliance is transforming its ground floor galleries into a surreal study collection for artist Emily Cobb’s studio jewelry.

Opening September 6, Legends: Studio Jewelry By Emily Cobb is Cobb’s first solo exhibition in Philadelphia and will feature a beautifully whimsical selection of the artist’s original brooches, neckpieces and rings.

And as the exhibition’s title suggests, Cobb’s pieces illustrate modern fairy tales and fables that give visitors the impression of being invited into an eccentric and wondrous study collection as soon as they step into the Art Alliance’s wood-paneled galleries.

Legends will also include an interactive station where visitors can record their own responses to the pieces and stories on view, which will later be shared online.

An opening reception will be held Thursday, September 20 from 6:30-8 p.m.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Sunday 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Plus, Fridays are “pay what you wish” admission.
