Save The Date: Uwishunu Presents A Moonlit Movie Screening In Rittenhouse Square, Saturday, August 11 At 8:30 P.M.

Break out the iPhone calendars, day planners, Google cals and whatever else you use to save a date that you will not want to miss: Uwishunu's Moonlit Movie In Rittenhouse Square is coming on August 11. (Image courtesy 'Midnight in Paris')

Uwishunu is all about Summer Nights these days — after all, we want to help you plan your summer evenings in the city — so what better way to help you do that than to add one more awesome event to the offerings?

To that end, we’re excited to announce that we’ll be hosting a Moonlit Movie Screening in Rittenhouse Square on Saturday, August 11 at 8:30 p.m.

We’re teaming up with The Friends of Rittenhouse Square, the Philadelphia Film Society and and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation to present a Parisian evening in Rittenhouse Square.

The Movie Screening

The movie will be Midnight in Paris, a movie we really like, but one that we purposefully chose for this screening because it has the absolutely perfect vibe for a summer movie screening in Rittenhouse Square. (Come on… watch the scene below, the song alone instantly puts us in a “summer evening picnic-in-the-park” mode…)

Add to that Rittenhouse Square’s Parisian influences — its current design by French-born architect Paul Phillipe Cret; Rouge and Parc as immediately adjacent dinner options, etc. — and you get why we chose this movie.

The movie screen itself will be set up on the east side of the square by the 18th and Locust Street entrance, facing north, making the grassy lawn section on the 18th Street side of the square between Walnut and Locust the primary seating area for the movie screening. So be sure to arrive early and stake out an optimal spot, with a comfortable blanket or two.

Bring A Picnic

The evening is also going to present the perfect opportunity for a picnic with some friends in one Philadelphia’s most beautiful squares. Stay tuned for some special picnicking tips for this moonlit movie coming soon.

Snacks From Rouge

It wouldn’t be a movie without snacks, right? Enter Rouge, who will be dishing out some quintessential movie fare, including delicious flavored lemonade, popcorn and hot dogs, from a curbside booth on 18th Street outside of the restaurant. Perfect for stopping by before the movie and grabbing a few essentials.

Arrive Early

The movie screening will begin at 8:30, but you’re encouraged to arrive early to grab a great seating and viewing location. (And to stop by our Uwishunu booth to pick up a special giveaway item…)

Invite Your Friends

It’s no secret that Team Uwishunu loves outdoor summer movie screenings, so we’ve worked hard to make sure that this event is super special. So save this date, tell your friends, and prepare to break out the picnic baskets and blankets… We will definitely see you there.

Note: be sure to let us, and your friends, know that you’re coming on our Facebook event page.

Update: Shake Shack and PHS Join In On The Fun

Shake Shack and the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society are getting in on the fun too. From 7-9 p.m. this Saturday, August 11, in conjunction with our Moonlit Movie Screening in Rittenhouse Square, Shake Shack will be setting up shop in the gorgeous PHS Pop-Up Garden (located across the street from Rittenhouse Square at 19th & Walnut Streets) to dish out free frozen custard to Moonlit Movie attendees.
