Backwards, The Locally Produced Movie Starring James Van Der Beek, To Premiere In Philadelphia September 21; Win Two Tickets To Opening Night
Philadelphia has been a movie star in a number of iconic movies, from Rocky I-V to The Sixth Sense, Invincible, Philadelphia, 12 Monkeys and many, many more.
Now Haverford native Sarah Thomas is adding to that list with Backwards, a rowing film she wrote and stars in that was filmed in the City of Brotherly Love last summer.
Backwards stars Dawson’s Creek’s James Van Der Beek, Glenn Morshower (from 24 and Transformers) and Margaret Colin (of Gossip Girl).
We shared the movie trailer with you last month, but now comes word that the film has set a debut date right here in Philadelphia complete with a star-studded red carpet.
There’s an invite-only Opening Night reception at the Philadelphia Museum of Art on September 20 (the museum’s connection is that a scene was filmed in one of the galleries and another on the Rocky steps), but the important date to remember is Friday, September 21. That’s when the movie will open at the Ritz East Theatre in Old City. And you’re invited.
This Monday, September 10, a special contest will kick off for a chance for anyone to win two tickets to opening night at the Ritz. Go to the “Backwards the Movie” Facebook page and share the Philadelphia post with five friends for a chance to win two tickets to an Opening Night showing at the Ritz East.
Additionally, you can pre-order your tickets online.
The movie will also play at Ambler Theatre starting September 21, and Bala Theatre starting September 28.
