Don’t Look Now But The Phillies Have Won Six Games In A Row, Reaching .500 For The First Time Since June 4, And Are Now Just Four Games Back Of The Wild Card

Oh snap. Four games back. The chase is on. The Fightin' Phils will go for win number seven-in-a-row this afternoon at Citizens Bank Park. (Photo courtesy the Phillies)

Last night, the Phillies won their sixth game in a row, beating the Marlins 9-7 in South Philadelphia. With the win, the Phillies improved their record to .500, a mark that the team had not reached since June 4.

The Phillies are 14-4 in their last 18 games — the best record in the majors during that span.

But most importantly, the Phillies are suddenly within striking distance of the two Wild Card playoff spots in the National League — the Phillies are now just four games back of the Cardinals for the second Wild Card spot.

With 20 games left to play, that means the Phillies still have a shot.

So let’s help them out.

Today, at 4:05 the Phillies will close out their current six-game homestand at Citizens Bank Park — and go for their seventh win in a row overall — with a late afternoon game against the Marlins. Bonus: Tickets are available on StubHub for as little as $1…

Sounds like the perfect excuse to duck out of work a little early and head down to the ballpark to cheer on the Phils. (Also, have looked out the window today? It’s gorgeous outside. How much encouragement do you really need?)
