Gallery 339 Presents More Photos About Buildings And Food, A Contemporary Photography Exhibit On View Starting September 21

Zoe Strauss, Half House on Boulevard, Philadelphia, 2005; Neil Winokur, Orange, 2002.

Drawing inspiration from The Talking Heads’ 1978 album “More Songs About Buildings and Food,” Rittenhouse Square’s Gallery 339’s latest exhibit brings together an unlikely pairing of photographs featuring (you guessed it) buildings and food.

Encompassing a diverse selection of works created since 1978 by more than 30 photographers, More Photos About Buildings and Food presents images that range from complex and colorful assemblies of dozens of prints to single 8×10 images rendered in sepia.

Each work showcases the photographer’s effort to bring an object to life, while inventively expanding on photographic precedents.

Participating artists include Zoe Strauss (who had an awesome retrospective at the Philadelphia Museum of Art earlier this year), William Christenberry, Dominic Episcopo (remember “Meat America”?), Sookang Kim, Justine Reyes and many others.

An opening reception will be held Friday, September 21 from 6-8 p.m. RSVP here.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
