On Saturday, September 29, the Independence Seaport Museum, along with sponsor clubs The Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia, Liberty Sailing Association and Riverton Yacht Club, will host the 2012 Philadelphia Cup Regatta.
More than a dozen clubs and 100 sailboats are expected to compete in this day-long event on the scenic Delaware River.
The races will kick off at 10 a.m. on Saturday and take place roughly between the Betsy Ross and Walt Whitman Bridge. Want a great vantage point? Visitors to the Independence Seaport Museum are invited to watch the races from the second floor balcony.
Watching the regatta makes for a fun weekend day activity, especially with the mild early fall weather we’ve been treated to.
An awards ceremony and reception for skippers and crew will be held at the end of the day at 5 p.m. at the museum.
