In preparation for the third return of The Philadelphia Collection Thursday, September 13-Thursday, September 20, the week-long fashion extravaganza is engaging consumers with a series of promotional events throughout the city named “Random Acts of Fashion.”

Conjuring an exciting buzz, Random Acts of Fashion combines social media platforms with enthusiasts of style to create red carpet pop-ups, makeovers and opportunities to win beauty swag.

Here’s the deal:

• Ambush Makeovers: Random Acts of Fashion continues to help those in need of a fashion pick-me-up with a quatro-installment series of Ambush Makeovers. Nominate yourself or a friend (male or female) to be selected for a transformation by completing the form found here. Like an episode of What Not To Wear, the selected candidates one-of-a-kind make-over will be revealed each week on CBS 3 Talk Philly.

• Remote Red Carpet: During the week leading up to its arrival, The Philadelphia Collection will roll out a mobile red carpet randomly throughout the city for locals to flaunt their fashion-savvy sidewalk-looks. Put your best-dressed self forward as the series of pop-up backdrops will ask passerby each day to snap stylish photos of themselves. Post and tag your photo on The Philadelphia Collection Facebook page in exchange for a chance to win free fashion and beauty swag.

• Own It: Retailers throughout the city are participating in a branding campaign called “OWN IT” now through Thursday, September 20. Locations like Joan Shepp, Mitchell & Ness, Knit Wit, Kimberly Boutique and Nicole Miller will display “OWN IT” tags on store products for consumers to tweet and tag photos of the items they’d like to own. Like a bridal registry for the fashion-minded individual, post your tagged items to The Philadelphia Collection Facebook page for a chance to win.
