The PHS Fall Garden Festival Returns To The Navy Yard This Saturday, September 22

One of the most feel-good, accessible festivals of the fall season is back this weekend.
The PHS Fall Garden Festival returns to the Navy Yard this Saturday, September 22 for an all-day celebration of music, food, plants, workshops, gardening tips and more. It’s free, open to the public, family-friendly and an annual favorite on the festival circuit.
A few highlights:
Harvest Contests
Harvest-time contests will include “Garden Giants,” where growers will enter their tremendous tomatoes, portly pumpkins and formidable fruits; and “Garden Bounty,” where beautiful arrangements of fall flowers and produce are evaluated by expert judges. Want to enter? Click here (PDF) for the participation rules.
Vendors
The PHS Fall Garden Festival is a great time to stock up on plants, seeds, gardening tools and more. Also look out for crafts tables like Marcasite & More (jewelry), Oil Creations by Gail (oil candles) and Unique Birdhouses (hand-craft birdhouses). There’s a full list of vendors available for browsing here (PDF).
Guest Appearance
Don’t miss a special appearance by ABC’s The Chew. Co-hosts Carla Hall (Top Chef!) and Daphne Oz will be on site with live demonstrations, Q&As, giveaways and more.
Winnie’s LeBus Manayunk will provide festival eats.
