Brewerytown’s Brewfest Returns Thursday, October 18 With Free Local Beer, Homebrewing Demo, Food Trucks And More

Philadelphia is widely acknowledged as one of the world’s best beer cities, and Brewerytown is one reason why.
At its pre-Prohibition peak, there were more than 700 individual breweries operating in the Brewerytown neighborhood. Honor that legacy with the 2012 Brewerytown Brewfest on Thursday, October 18.
Last year’s inaugural Brewfest was held at Mugshots CoffeeHouse, with three participating brewers. This year expands on that, with five brewers offering free samples: Yards, Saint Benjamin Brewing Company, Worst Brewing, Iron Hill and Home Sweet Homebrew (the owners of which are Brewerytown residents).
This year’s Brewfest will be in a pub crawl format, covering four locations over two blocks. You can wander the avenue, stopping into a variety of shops to taste the beer, and learn how to make your own beer.
If you get hungry, there will be food trucks at the fest as well, including Sunflower Truck Stop and the Tamale Cart.
