Philadelphia Theatre Company Presents Stars Of David, A World Premiere Musical On Stage Starting October 17

Philadelphia Theatre Company kicks off its new season with Stars of David, a world premiere production presenting a series of musicalized portraits of famous people reflecting on how Judaism affects their lives.
Based on interviews from Abigail Pogrebin’s book Stars of David: Prominent Jews Talk about Being Jewish, and running from October 17 through November 18, the performance shines bright.
The stars whose stories are portrayed cinclude Joan Rivers, Gloria Steinem, Aaron Sorkin, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Norman Lear, Tony Kushner and Wendy Wasserstein. With a catalogue like that, you can expect Stars of David to be a joyous, hold-onto-your-hats show that pulls out more than a few stops.
The songs are by notable composers and lyricists, including Susan Birkenhead (Jelly’s Last Jam), Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening), William Finn (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Marilyn & Alan Bergman (Yentl), Amanda Green (High Fidelity) and more.
It’s a starry song-cycle that shines all the way round. Tickets are available online.
