October 24, 2012
Charge your iPhone and check your camera battery. Philly Photo Day 2012 is this Friday, October 26.
Everyone in Philadelphia that day is invited to take a picture of anything at all anywhere in the city, with a camera, a phone or even a computer, and submit it electronically to the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center (PPAC) website, through October 30.
Use the hashtag #phillyphotoday in any photos you tweet.
Want help learning how to take the best photos? PPAC has partnered with community organizations and local artists to teach photography basics like lighting and composition, and help participants select their best photos. Check out a full list of where to take part in a demo or workshop on Philly Photo Day here (PDF).
So what happens after Philly Photo Day? An awesome showcase of Philadelphia’s budding, amateur and professional photographers.
Select images will be placed on SEPTA buses and trains and even on billboards for an entire month. One of those images could be yours! So cool.
Plus, every single picture received will be printed, and PPAC will hold an exhibition on December 6 highlighting the photos.
