Discover the story behind the Philadelphia Mummers with Behind the Sequins: Showtime for the Philadelphia Mummers, a brand new six-installment video series that’s being released today by Visit Philly.
The Behind The Sequins video series will tell the story of Philadelphia’s beloved and iconic Mummers through the people who make the costumes, choreograph the routines, build the sets and march — and have done so for generations.
You can watch the first installment of the series above, or on YouTube. Episode One, of six, is called “Choreography.”
Each episode is only 90 seconds or so, a brief but bright glimpse into Mummerdom. Episode One takes us inside a Shooting Stars practice and interviews choreographer Dennis Quaile, former captain Mickey Adams and current captain Michael Adams, who have a few really interesting insights into what goes on behind the scenes of the annual Mummers parade.
Watch it here.
