Happy Birthday to one of our favorite French sculptors!
Auguste Rodin, revolutionary artist behind iconic creations The Thinker, The Gates of Hell, The Burghers of Calais and Three Shades — all on display at the newly renovated Rodin Museum on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway — would be 172 years old today if he were still alive.
In fact, Philadelphia’s Rodin Museum is the largest public collection of his works, outside of Paris.
Definitely be sure to head over and wish him a Happy Birthday for yourself; given today’s gorgeous sunshine, we suggest enjoying a picnic in the beautiful gardens outside the museum.
Also good to know: the Swann Lounge at the Four Seasons is serving a tasty tribute to Rodin today in honor of his birthday. The cocktail is called “The Thinker,” and it’s made with green tea infused honey syrup, Domain de Canton Ginger liqueur and Prosecco, garnished with a skewered candied ginger.
Happy Birthday Rodin!
