Ring In The Holiday Season In Manayunk With “Santa On Ice” And A Tree Lighting Ceremony At Canal View Park, Saturday, December 1
Kick off the season and get into the Christmas spirit at the Manayunk holiday celebration this Saturday, December 1.
See the annual spectacle “Santa on Ice” from 1-4 p.m. where spectators will watch as Santa’s sleigh is intricately carved from ice, and then, once the sleigh’s complete, hop in and get a picture with St. Nick himself.
From 6-8 p.m. enjoy a host of holiday performances while you sip some hot cocoa and watch the Christmas tree light up brilliantly.
Throughout the day and evening, be sure to take a stroll down Main Street and check out all of the adorable boutiques, consignment shops, gift shops, markets and more. Shopping local is all the rage this year, and Manayunk is definitely a great place to find the sort of unique gifts you won’t come across just anywhere.
Also: a Manayunk gift basket will be raffled off during the celebration. All proceeds from the basket, worth $1,000, will go to North Light Community Center.
Here’s another tempting bonus that makes the appeal of holiday shopping beyond downtown even more appealing: parking is free at any of the meters on Saturdays from Thanksgiving to Christmas.
