More LOVE for Philly: Lonely Planet named Philadelphia one of the top 10 U.S. destinations for 2013. (Photo by Kyle Harty for Uwishunu)
Every year, #1 travel publisher Lonely Planet publishes a definitive list of travel destinations, a decision they take very seriously.
Exciting news: Philadelphia is on their 2013 list!
Here’s an excerpt of what Lonely Planet had to say about our fine city:
“Forget the cheesesteaks and tri-corner hat, Philadelphia is becoming known as an art capital. In addition to the world renowned Philadelphia Museum of Art, the formerly remote the Barnes Foundation, a once private collection of Matisse, Renoir and Cézanne, has a new central location. And it’s not just the big museums – Philly’s gallery scene is exploding with new venues like the Icebox garnering international attention and turning the Northern Liberties and Fishtown neighborhoods into the new hot arts hub.”
The piece says of its picks, “We wanted to… shine a light on 10 places in the US that travelers should add to their wish lists for the coming year.”
Hear us, all potential travelers to Philly: we’re ready and waiting.
