Tonight Picks: Rittenhouse Row Holiday Party, Zahav’s “Very Jewish (And Korean!) Christmas Party,” Philadelphia Orchestra Concert, South Street Santa Bar Crawl And More

Rittenhouse Row Holiday Cocktail Party and Book Drive: Start the celebration of the long holiday weekend a little early tonight at the Rittenhose Row holiday cocktail party and book drive. Join the good folks of Rittenhouse Row at G Lounge from 7-9 p.m. for an open bar, snacks and lots of holiday cheer. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Hint: bring a book to donate to the book drive and your ticket at the door will be $15. All books will be donated to Gift of Life Family House.

Zahav’s Annual Very Jewish (And Korean!) Christmas Party: Nosh on award-winning food at Chef Michael Solomonov’s Israeli restaurant Zahav tonight at the resto’s annual Christmas party. Solomonov will prepare a meal inspired by the take-out-style Asian American favorites that are now a tradition in many Jewish homes around this time of year. To top the night off, Zahav will be playing a comedic movie to watch while enjoying a tasty Korean meal.

611 Holiday Pop-Up Shop: Finish up your holiday shopping tonight at 611’s holiday pop-up shop. The brand is inhabiting an empty Rittenhouse Square garage from December 19-30 to fulfill all of your holiday and post-holiday shopping needs. Tonight, the shop will be open until 7 p.m. and will allow guests to browse through the Luxe Life and DJ Life collections along with never-before-seen items from the spring 2013 collection.

Philadelphia Orchestra’s Glorious Sound of Christmas: Listen to the tunes of Christmas tonight at the Kimmel Center. The Philadelphia Orchestra will keep your holiday cheer on high with family-friendly holiday favorites.

Santa’s South Street Stroll Holiday Bar Crawl: Everyone loves beer, even Santa! Join the South Street Headhouse District in a holiday bar crawl at 13 participating bars tonight. Pop on a free Santa hat from the participating places; anyone wearing one will receive special discounts on holiday-themed drinks like Candy Cane martinis, Holly Berry cocktails, Christmas Ales and more. Santa hat wearers will also receive discounts on bar food.

Arcadia Holiday Party & Trunk Shows: The Northern Liberties location of Arcadia Boutique is hosting a party perfect for all fashion mavens. From 5-9 p.m. head over to the boutique for The Fine Line Between Art and Fashion with Macy’s fashion incubator designer, Melissa D’agostino. The event will host four local designers as they display their finest at individual trunk shows. While shopping for local gifts for you or someone on your Christmas list, also be sure to support the cause One Simple Wish, the charity that this event is benefiting. Storewide discounts will be given to customers who bring journals, makeup, gently used jewelry or personal care items to the cause.

The Brown Betty Cookbook Book Signing: Brown Betty Dessert Boutique, one of Philaedphia’s favorite bakeries, is hosting a book signing for their new cookbook, The Brown Betty Cookbook: Modern Vintage Desserts and Stories from Philadelphia’s Best Bakery. Get the scoop on how to make delicious baked goods of all kinds — cupcakes, pies, frosting, fillings and more. The event will take place in the rotunda from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Standard Tap’s Wurst Sweater Event & Fundraiser: Join in the holiday merriment at Standard Tap tonight for their wurst sweater event and fundraiser. Imbibe fresh egg nog and the best winter brews. An entry fee of $5 benefits the Northern Liberties Neighborhood Association’s Operation Santa and provides you access to the event. Those who wear the “wurst” sweater tonight will win prizes provided by Philadelphia Brewing Company.

The tour brings you to four historic Old City pubs: National Mechanics, Triumph Brewing, City Tavern and Salon 401. To get you more in the historic spirit, colonial re-enactors will serve as your tour guide.

Macy’s Christmas Light Show: The Macy’s Christmas light show is a Philadelphia holiday tradition. The legendary Julie Andrews narrates Christmas stories as the famous Wanamaker Organ plays musical accompaniment. More than 100,000 sparkling and colorful LED lights create holiday images and scenes on the four-story-high velvet curtain of the Grand Court atrium. Catch the show before it ends on December 31.

12 Nights of Christmas Cocktails at Square 1682: Square 1682 at Hotel Palomar is serving up special cocktails each night to countdown the days until Christmas. Tonight, the cocktail is the Ghost of Christmas Grog which is made with spiced rum, spiced syrup, lime and hot water in a mug with a clove studded twist of a lemon. Try one of these special, wintry cocktails before the event is over.

Christmas Village: Philadelphia’s Christmas Village is in full swing at Love Park. Comcast Holiday Spectacular: A Philadelphia favorite, the Comcast Holiday Spectacular is bound to knock your socks off. More than half a million people have visited the site since its opening in 2008. Enjoy the free, 15-minute holiday show shown on the Comcast Center’s Comcast Experience video wall which happens to be the largest four-mm LED video display in the world. Holiday scenes from the The Nutcracker, performed by the Pennsylvania ballet, and scenes from the snowy Pennsylvania countryside will fill the screen.

Longwood Gardens Christmas: Longwood Gardens’ impressive Christmas light display has been open for a week and there’s no better way to get into the holiday spirit than with half a million lights plus Christmas trees and wreaths decorating the property. Enjoy dazzling fountain shows among the lights. Purchase your timed tickets now to avoid disappointment.

1812 Productions presents Dave and Aaron Go to Work: Check out this unique and hilarious “silent film for stage” at the Play & Players Theatre tonight. This family-friendly show will have everyone ages six and up laughing at the slapstick comedy. The play channels vaudevillian productions of the past and is an unexpected change from the plays that are largely popular today. Seriously — it’s hilarious.
