Philadelphia’s a movie star in the just-out major motion picture Silver Linings Playbook starring Philly-bred Bradley Cooper alongside Jennifer Lawrence of Hunger Games fame, plus Robert DeNiro and Jacki Weaver.
Seems like Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro like to make movies together in Philadelphia.
Silver Linings Playbook is about former high school English teacher Pat Solitano — Bradley Cooper — who, after a stint in a mental institution, moves back in with his parents and tries to reconcile with his ex-wife. But things get challenging when Pat meets Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), a mysterious girl with problems of her own.
The movie isn’t explicitly about Philadelphia, exactly, but there are some shining moments: DeNiro plays a diehard, combative Philadelphia Eagles fan; the western suburbs of Philadelphia provide the setting for a few scenes; and the actors nail the Philly accent.
The movie’s already cleaning up nominations and awards, and even garnering Oscar buzz.
