Two is always better than one, especially when it comes to Shake Shack. (Photo by J. Zale)
It’s no secret we’re huge fans of Shake Shack — we were ecstatic when they opened their first Philadelphia location this past June and then we teamed up with them on a special custard giveaway as part of our Moonlit Movie Screening in Rittenhouse Square back in August… to say nothing of the fact that the Shack Burger is insanely good, arguably the best burger you can find. Anywhere.
So we were thrilled to hear yesterday that Shake Shack has plans to open a second Philadelphia location in University City later this year. Eater is reporting that the Shack’s second location will be at 32nd and Chestnut Streets.
This second Shack location is going in the new Chestnut Square development at 3200 Chestnut Street that is just across the river from Center City, around the corner from 30th Street Station, and also pretty convenient to both the campuses of the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel. Which is bully for them.
Targeted opening date is late summer/early fall 2013.
Moral of the story: Philadelphia is getting a second Shake Shack. Everybody wins.
