Stop #1: First Friday at The Barnes Foundation, 6-10 p.m.
Head out to First Friday at the Barnes Foundation from 6-10 p.m. This month’s event centers around a Tango theme and will feature a dance performance by Oscuro Quintet. The performance will include guest vocalists and will take viewers on the journey from Tango’s origination in Africa to what we know as Tango today. The night will also include a lecture on Pablo Picasso and a hands-on cubism workshop. Admission to the dancing and reception portion of the night is $10 for nonmembers and free for members. Admission to the galleries is $18 per person and advance purchase is encouraged, tickets are available online.
Professor Christine Poggi from the University of Pennsylvania will discuss Picasso’s art transformation in the 20th century at Picasso and the African Model from 5:30–6:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers.
If you don’t have your cubism workshop tickets yet, the event is unfortunately sold out. But the other offerings of the night are reason enough to check out the Barnes Foundation.
Be sure to check out the Barnes Foundations’ impressive collection of art as well.
