This Sunday, May 5, more than two dozen local chefs known for their brilliant burgers will compete for ultimate bragging rights during the Philadelphia Burger Brawl.
A fundraiser for public elementary schools, Burger Brawl was conceived by Rob and Maggie Wasserman of Rouge, 500 Degrees and The Saint James to help supply Meredith Elementary school with up-to-date technology and has since expanded its scope to fund the construction of computer labs at schools across the city. With the philanthropic mission in mind, tickets to the burger fest are priced at $75 per person.
But, wait! We’re giving away two pairs of tickets to two lucky Uwishunu readers this week. That’s right, just fill out the form below to enter a drawing for one of two pairs of tickets to the annual alfresco burger blowout.
Some of the two dozen restaurants and chefs competing for the Judges’ and People’s Choice awards include Alla Spina, Barbuzzo, Butcher and Singer, Ela, Good Dog Bar, London Grill, Shake Shack, Silk City, South Philadelphia Tap Room, Percy Street Barbecue, The Corner and Kennett.
Beyond the buns, ticket-holders will sample beer from Dogfish Head, bourbon from Jim Beam, Rita’s Water Ice and more.
Philadelphia’s own Marc Summers will be emceeing the event, which will take place in the great outdoors, just outside of the Fleisher Art Memorial in Bella Vista from 3 to 6 p.m.
