Summer is a great time of year to show off things like a sporty new convertible or surfing skills or, of course, tan lines.
The Mt. Airy Art Garage, Northwest Philly’s creative center for emerging and professional artists, prefers to show off its talented array of contributing artists.
Summer Show Off, a community-driven exhibit featuring member and non-member work, displays a broad array of mediums such as painting, photography, sculpture, mosaic, encaustic, clay, jewelry, fiber, woodwork, found objects and more.
The exhibit, which runs from June 28 through August 30, marks the first time the Art Garage has invited any artist from the region to submit his or her works to be considered for exhibiting.
Housed in the Garage’s air-conditioned Solomon Levy Gallery, peruse and enjoy original works of art by uniquely talented artists hailing from Philike Daisy Juarez, Nicki Toizer and Patricia Smith.
Summer Show Off kicks off with an opening night potluck reception on Friday, June 28, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Both the event and the exhibit are free and open to the public during regular gallery hours, Thursday to Saturday, noon to 6 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.
Beat the heat with this excellent showing of local artists.
