If a Mai Tai is a vacation in a glass, then surely Twenty Manning Grill’s summer tasting series is a getaway on a plate.
Running weekly through August 28 from 5 to 7 p.m., Summer Vacation Wednesdays brings the culinary essence of a different country to the Rittenhouse Square bar and restaurant each week with “friendly hour” specials and a $25 tasting menu.
Joining in the assortment of Wednesday night happenings like Center City Sips and Pay-What-You-Wish Wednesdays at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Twenty Manning’s tasting series is another excellent way to get over the mid-week hump.
This week on the virtual-travel itinerary is Cuba, with a menu of black bean hummus and taro chips, gambas con mojo with rice and beans with refreshing mojitos and Hemingway daiquiris.
Next week, on July 3, it’s a staycation in honor of Independence Day. The backyard barbecue-themed menu will hit all the classic notes, from hot dogs to watermelon.
In the following weeks, look out for Wednesdays at Twenty Manning to offer up flavors from such locales as Singapore, Mexico, Canada, Germany, Hawaii, Thailand and Italy.
The menu specials are offered both at the bar and in the dining room.
