Celebrate Go Skate Day At Paine’s Park With Pro Skateboarder Demos, Live Music, Amateur Skate Contest And More, Friday, June 21
Every year on June 21, skateboarders around the world pick up their boards, blow off all other obligations and celebrate skateboarding for Go Skate Day.
In Philadelphia, local skaters can mark the day at brand-new Paine’s Park, an awesome new skatepark that just opened this past May and was designed by Anthony Bracali of Friday Architects/Planners and Brian Nugent of SkateNerd.
Located right on the Schuylkill River Banks, the park is a mixed-use public space, with skateboarding as the central feature, but also includes elements to appeal to the general public like granite and steel benches and sweet views of the river, city skyline and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
On Friday, the Zumiez Couch Tour will make a stop at Paine’s Park for Go Skate Day, bringing the Adidas skate team, DJ Chris Karns and live music from Trash Talk and Riff Raff.
For amateur skaters looking to try their hand at some public shredding, show up at 10 a.m. and check in for Zumiez Best Food Forward contest. Make it through the qualifying round at noon for a spot in the finals at 4 p.m.
The entire event is free and no tickets are required.
Just show up and kick off summer vacation with free games, prizes, music, giveaways and plenty of skateboarding.
