The highly anticipated Wawa Hoagie Day, a glorious day full of free hoagies (and other freebies!) is quickly approaching.

On Tuesday, July 2, beginning at noon, spend your lunch break on Independence Mall with all of the freshly made hoagies you can imagine.

This year, Wawa presents a 4.5 ton (!) Hoagie Salute to our Troops in accordance with the day’s theme; celebrating soldiers and local heroes.

Throughout the day, join Mayor Nutter, Philadelphia firefighters and police officers, the Pennsylvania National Air Guard, the Pennsylvania National Army Guard, the Cape May National Guard and the United Service Organizations show troupe “The Liberty Belles” in the celebration of our nation’s founding.

Watch members of the heroic groups introduce the massive hoagie, perform and participate in challenges on the Independence Visitors Center Lawn. Certain groups will even try their hand at creating Wawa-grade hoagies.

Guests are also encouraged to visit troop letter writing stations to show their appreciation for our armed forces.

For those looking for some more freebies on July 2, look no further than the National Constitution Center. In honor of the 21st Wawa Hoagie Day, the NCC opens its Old City doors at no cost! In addition to free admission, an exhibit on the history of the hoagie makes a grand appearance.

Not only is Wawa Hoagie Day a tasty event, but a charitable one, too.

During the daylong event, proceeds raised by Wawa will be donated to local charity groups, and 5,000 hoagies will be donated to Philabundance.
