Straight off of the troupe’s raucous annual performance at Eastern State Penitentiary’s Bastille Day festival, The Bearded Ladies Cabaret now brings its rollicking talents to the lobby of The Wilma Theater with My Dinner with Dito: A How to be Gay Cabaret, July 17-20 and July 24-27.
The always-entertaining experimental group’s newest show stars not only the artists of The Bearded Ladies, but creates a cabaret supergroup with guest performers Dito Van Reigersberg — better known as drag personality Martha Graham Cracker — and actress Sarah Gliko.
In what promises to be a terrifically lively show, Bearded Ladies’ artistic director John Jarboe and Van Reigersberg explore gay male iconography and stereotypes through plenty of drag, tabletop dancing and the music of such paragons as Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli.
Tickets for How to be Gay Cabaret are $20 for seats or $25 for tables, and includes a box of hors d’oeuvres as well as an open wine bar courtesy of London Grill and Paris Wine Bar.
With just nine performances, we’re predicting this dynamic showcase will sell out.
To score tickets now, call the Wilma’s box office at 215-546-7824, or test your luck and purchase at the door.
