The Third Wave coffee scene in Philadelphia continues to swell, going way beyond providing that standard cup o’ joe in favor of crafting the consummate sip of java.
This weekend, Saturday, August 10, help to celebrate the grand opening of a storefront home for ReAnimator Coffee, a small, locally owned and operated micro-roaster in Fishtown.
Since its launch in 2011, ReAnimator has developed a reputation for its super high-quality, small-batch and single-origin coffees, all roasted right here in Philadelphia.
A handful of local retailers stock ReAnimator’s beans (look for the bags adorned with a dancing skeleton), but now fans of the craft coffee can visit the Susquehanna Avenue cafe for a carefully tended pour-over, Japanese-style iced coffee or any number of espresso-bar beverages.
Head to ReAnimator this Saturday to check out the new space — with its custom pour-over bar, indoor and outdoor seating and mid-century modern furnishings — and join in the opening party.
The whole neighborhood gets in on the fete, dubbed The Forks Crawl, with Little Baby’s Ice Cream, Pizza Brain, Loco Pez, Cedar Point and Yards Brewery participating.
At the cafe, get a scoop of ReAnimator-laced red-eye vegan ice cream from the Little Baby’s tricycle, sip a free sample of Yard’s Love Stout (yep, made with ReAnimator espresso) and snag a free taste of coffee-braised pork and broccoli rabe pizza from Pizza Brain (while supplies last).
The festivities at ReAnimator are set to last until just after 7 p.m., but after getting fully caffeinated, cruise around the Fishtown neighborhood to Loco Pez and Cedar Point for drink specials.
