Next Up In PECO’s Multicultural Series At Penn’s Landing Is The 27th Annual Caribbean Festival,

If the recent round of scorching temps hasn’t awakened your tropical spirit, the Caribbean Festival at Penn’s Landing surely will do the trick.

For the 27th year, this celebration of Caribbean culture comes to town on Sunday, August 18 from noon until 8 p.m.

This internationally inspired event will feature culture, music, cuisine, souvenirs, apparel and family-friendly fun from 14 Caribbean islands.

Kids will have a blast at the Caribbean Children’s Village, and at the Tings Caribbean booth, attendees can feel, touch and sample “tings” from the islands.

Back by popular demand, the Philly PanStars, an authentic steel drum band, are sure to delight the crowd. Additional entertainment acts on the bill include Image Band, Timi Tanzania, Sista Mafalda & the Kuumba Dancers, Limelite Band, True Voices, David Watkis, CBC Mime Ministry, Caribbean in Action Dance Troupe and Mr. Rob Diesel.

The joyful festivities will raise money for college scholarships for students of Caribbean descent.

So go ahead and grab another umbrella-laden beverage — it’s all for a great cause!
