The Soweto Gospel Choir, a South African musical group, was formed in 2002 and has since created music that has earned the top spot on the Billboard World Music chart, won Grammy awards, American Gospel Music awards and much more.
The choir has also performed on the Today Show and Late Night with Conan O’Brien and was a favorite of — and ambassadors for — the late, great Nelson Mandela.
The troupe continues its North American tour with a stop in University City at the Zellerbach Theatre at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts.
Tickets are $80 per person and are available online.
Get to the show a little early to catch a performance by the New Spirit of Penn Gospel Choir at 6 p.m.
The Soweto Gospel Choir is presented as part of the African Roots concerts at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts.
