Winter weather may be persisting, but Philadelphia’s annual signs of spring are thankfully at hand.
Historic Philadelphia’s family-friendly favorite Franklin Square plans to reopen for the 2014 season this Saturday, March 1.
Weather permitting, one and all are invited to come out to one of the city’s top play places and enjoy its awesome attractions, despite Old Man Winter. As long as additional snow doesn’t cause delay, Saturday will bring the first opportunity since the park went dark for winter to play a round of Philly Mini Golf, take a ride aboard the Liberty Carousel or just enjoy the sight of the vintage marble fountain.
Franklin Square’s SquareBurger — Stephen Starr’s popular burger, hot dog and milkshake joint — is set to open a little later than the park’s other attractions, on Saturday, March 22.
In the meantime, pack a picnic or visit a nearby restaurants if you plan on visiting the park between March 1 and 21.
Franklin Square will open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily in March, including opening day, so arrive early and get ready for a day of great family fun.
Stay tuned for more on Franklin Square’s seasonal special events as the spring season begins in earnest.
