Truly, Philadelphia is a beautiful city.
But blanket it with a layer of freshly fallen snow — like the coating Winter Storm Pax gave us overnight — and it’s picture perfect.
Whether the site is Rittenhouse Square, Independence Mall or the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, watching our city become a winter wonderland is a sight to behold.
For those who have a snow day today and want to hide out from the winter weather with a drink in hand, check out our guides to fireside dining and our guide to where to watch the snow fall at bars and restaurants.
Be sure to call ahead before heading out to confirm any restaurant, shop or destination is open, though.

For folks who want to get out and play in the snow, check out this map of the best sledding spots in Philadelphia from the good people at Curbed Philly.
Remember, the roads and sidewalks are slippery out there, and as of 10 a.m. today SEPTA bus service is suspended, though trains are still running (if delayed).
For those who don’t want to risk traveling out of the city tonight, we definitely recommend checking out deals on Philadelphia hotels tonight and staying over right in town.
Stay warm, dry and safe, folks.
Happy Snow Day!
