In the spirit of the Winter Olympics in Sochi beginning on Friday, February 7, the Philly Pond Hockey Classic returns to the ice, for the second year, at the Blue Cross RiverRink at Penn’s Landing.
On Saturday, February 8, watch teams battle it out in a different type of hockey game — it’s set to be very different than what we’re used to watching on television.
During the games, players are slated to play with wooden goals and no goalies, and the rink is slated to be half the size of a standard size hockey rink.
The Philly Pond Hockey Classic will also consist of three versus three matches.
The competition calls on amateur players from across the nation all hoping their team is named Philadelphia’s Pond Hockey Classic champion.
The event runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Head out to Penn’s Landing and cheer on the visiting (and local!) teams.
