It’s a weekend of openings and closings in Philadelphia, and the first days of March bring some spring-like events to the mix — but not necessarily spring-like weather (seriously??).
The Philadelphia Flower Show returns under the theme of ARTiculture, a mash up of renowned art and intricate flowers and plants. Beginning tomorrow, March 1 and running through Sunday, March 9, the Pennsylvania Convention Center turns into a mecca for all things gardening and a haven for those looking for signs of spring.
Also this weekend, a number of the city’s most popular museums celebrate the beginning of the month with free or discounted admission on Sunday. Visit the Barnes Foundation and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Arts for no admission fee at all, and explore the Philadelphia Museum of Art at whatever price you’d like to pay as part of pay-what-you-wish first Sunday. Sunday plans, check!
Tomorrow marks the final day of the foodie frenzy, East Passyunk Restaurant Week. Visit any number of the 24 participating restaurants for deals on brunch, lunch and dinner. If you haven’t dined along the super popular restaurant row yet, visit today or tomorrow to take full advantage of the promotion.
Two museums debut new marquee exhibitions this weekend, too. The Penn Museum opens Native American Voices: The People — Here and Now on Saturday and the Philadelphia Museum of Art welcomes Treasures from Korea: Arts and Culture of the Joseon Dynasty, 1392-1910 on Sunday.
