Have you dined on East Passyunk Avenue’s restaurant row recently?

The stretch of East Passyunk Avenue between Mifflin and Dickinson streets has long been known for delicious and authentic Italian fare, but these days top chefs and of-the-moment restaurants are cooking on the avenue, and the buzz only continues to grow.

On Saturday, April 26, this so-hot-right-now restaurant row welcomes hungry crowds to the annual Flavors of the Avenue, with more restaurants and bars on tap than ever before with 27 of the avenue’s restaurants are participating in the tasting event.

April showers or not, this event will go on thanks to the overhead tent between Morris and Dickinson streets on East Passyunk Avenue. The tent will enclose all of the food and drink samples created by the 27 participating restaurants.

In addition to hosting newcomers and East Passyunk staples like Cantina Los Caballitos, South Philly Bar and Grill and Stateside, four restaurants will make their Flavors of the Avenue debut — Laurel BYOB from Top Chef Nicholas Elmi, plus POPE and soon-to-open restaurants Townsend and Brigantessa. For the complete lineup of restaurants, see below.

Beyond the tent, a festive and free street festival will take over South Philly with live music and the annual Crafty Balboa April Showers craft market from noon to 5 p.m.

Tickets for the tasting event are on sale now and are available for purchase online. Entry for general admission ticket holders begins at 1 p.m., and include food, wine and craft beer.

Enjoy the all-you-can-eat (and drink) goodness until 4 p.m. when the festival closes its doors for the year.

Flavors of the Avenue is known to sell out — in fact, the VIP tickets are already gone — so purchase your ticket today.

I am looking forward to enjoying some great food and drinks in April. There seem to be a lot of food events coming up, which means more tasty food is on the way.
