Bring on the block party! This Saturday, May 3, South Street hosts a huge eight-block and nine-hour spring festival, the South Street Headhouse District Spring Festival.

Complementing the South Street Spring Festival, Brauhaus Schmitz hosts its second-annual Maifest, a full day of drinking, eating, dancing around a maipole and additional German-themed merriment.

From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., the German beer hall and restaurant offers indoor and outdoor fun, plenty of food and serious steins to festivalgoers.

Taking over of the entire 700 block of South Street, the Maifest brings the sweet taste of Germany to the South Street spring festival with authentic German dancers between 2 and 6 p.m., plus live music from Heimatklänge between 1 and 6 p.m.

All of the alfresco Maifest fun is open to the general public, but a select number of VIP tickets are available, too.

A limited number of VIP tickets are available for $100 a piece, and these passes boast a number of added benefits; complimentary appetizers, a beer stein, private bathrooms (a treat at citywide festivals), access to a VIP room with exclusive beers and eight beer tickets.

Be sure to head down South Street to explore all of the live music, activities, food and drink that the festival has to offer.

And don’t forget, this is just one of nearly a dozen major festivals and events to hit Philadelphia for Super Spring Saturday, this Saturday, May 3.
