Get ready to root for the home team, Philly!
The Philadelphia Phillies home opener hits Citizens Bank Park on Monday, April 7 to kick off another sweet season of Major League Baseball in Philadelphia.
Currently on the road, playing the Texas Rangers followed by the Chicago Cubs, the Phils come home next week to face the Milwaukee Brewers April 7 and April 9-10, followed by two more home series versus the Florida Marlins (April 11-13) and the Atlanta Braves (April 14-17).
Pumped for the baseball season? There are a bunch of ways to get in on the season opening good times.
Phillies Pep Rallies
Leading up to the home opener, fans can get in the Phillies spirit this weekend when the Phillies Rally Trolley rolls through Center City on Friday, April 4 between noon and 1 p.m. with the Red Phanatic and plenty of free swag.
This Saturday, April 5, the Phillies Balloon Platoon makes its way around the area with surprises for fans. What’s the surprise? Follow @Phillies on Twitter to find out.
Finally, on Sunday, April 6, Schuylkill River Park hosts the annual Phillies Pup Rally for all the dog-loving Phillies fans.
Opening Day at Citizens Bank Park
All that pep culminates in the festive home opener game on Monday afternoon, bringing with it the hopes for a great season from new manager Ryne Sandberg and tons of opportunities to kick back at the ballpark.
This season, look out for new food options like a house-smoked pastrami sandwich and a brisket grilled cheese at Alley Brewing Co., mussels at Harry the K’s and a trio of new hot dogs at Philly Frank & Stein — a bacon-and-cheese dog, a “summer dog” with cucumbers and pickled onions, and the Philly-centric cheesesteak-topped dog.
Opening Day pre-game ceremonies start at noon with the free Citizens Bank Way Opening Day Party, with entertainment, food and drinks and a live performance by Go Go Gadjet.
Then, at 1:15 p.m., fans can line up at the 10th Street gates to cheer on the 2014 Phillies during the “Leadoff Walk” into the ballpark, escorted by the Cardinal O’Hara High School Marching Band.
Tickets the home opener game are all but sold out, but the series continues and single-game tickets are available online, starting at just $20.
For die-hard fans still looking to get seats for Opening Day action, standing room only tickets will go on sale at noon at the first base ticket windows at Citizens Bank Park.
